I am thrilled to be a part of another Hot Tree anthology! Lately, I have been more focused on short stories than my series… I absolutely LOVE writing stories that allow me to get to the Happily Ever After quicker than normal! 🙂

But, not to worry – I am in the final stages of touch ups for the second book in the Charlie Hamilton series and am in the process of writing the second installment in the Twice As Good Series.

HAPPY Reading in the New Year!

XOXO,

Sabrina

Taking Souls

Taking Souls is coming!! To say I am excited to share the lives of Charlie and her family is an understatement!

Taking Souls was actually the first manuscript I wrote back in 2013. I started it while on vacation at Jekyll Island in Georgia, which happens to have been the inspiration for her coastal living life… I was very much into a paranormal romance phase during that time and had these characters in my mind that just would not go away – it was like watching a movie playing over and over. I had scenes that were on constant repeat every time certain songs would come on the radio.

So, what did I do? I decided to try my hand at writing. The first draft was very bare – mainly conversations and descriptions, but there wasn’t a whole lot of emotion. With the help of a friend who loves to read as much as I do, I jumped back in with hopes to beef up the story. I finally finished in 2014, but did not send it for editing until 2015.

I am publishing this month and can’t wait to hear from readers!

Taking Souls:

Taking Souls by S. Hartley delves into the world of Supernatural, showcasing the good and bad.

Charlie Hamilton is a magical mystery, gifted with both the craft of witches and the ability to take souls. Now retired from the Supernatural Bureau of Investigations, she spends her time relaxing in a coastal paradise and working “kiss” jobs for the sexy Grim Reaper.

Charlie is drawn back into her old life when the man who broke her heart, gorgeous vampire, Kian O’Connor, reaches out for her assistance in stopping a Supernatural serial murderer. Torn between doing what is right or laying her heart on the line again, she gives in and returns to the team.

Not only must Charlie fight a Supernatural entity set out on a killing spree, but she has to navigate through the highs and lows of love.

Will Charlie survive with her heart intact?

If you are in process of writing or thinking about it – all I can say is GO FOR IT!

XOXO,

Sabrina

Taking Souls

Finishing up the final touches on my first Paranormal Romance so that it can be sent for editing later this month! It was actually the first story I wrote, but it got stuck on the back burner when I started Twice As Good – I had almost forgot how much I love the characters!

Taking Souls:
Not only is the heroine a magical mystery blessed with the gift of witchcraft and the ability to take souls, she is also witty and strong. And no good love story is complete without a gorgeous man who makes our heroine’s knees weak…

Charlotte “Charlie” Hamilton has lived a long and full life. Throughout that longevity she has worked with and loved Gabriel, the sexy Grim Reaper. However, he is not the man who broke her heart and still holds the pieces. That title belongs to roguishly handsome Irish vampire Kian O’Connor.

Having thought she would find peace with retirement, Charlie has lived her life in solitude since leaving the Supernatural Bureau of Investigations and working “kiss” jobs for Gabriel. Charlie is drawn back into her old life when her ex-vampire lover seeks her assistance in stopping a Supernatural serial killer.

Through this journey Charlie will discover where home truly is for her.

Happy New Year!!!!

I hope 2014 was as great for everyone else as it was for me ~ I had some wonderful things occur in my life, like the birth of my third daughter and I published my first book! I am looking forward to 2015 being just as exciting!

I am planning to publish another book, although it looks like it may be the spring now, and hope to focus on writing more.

My husband and I are also in the beginning stages of house building plans and I have TONS of DIY things pinned. Yes, I am a Pinterest addict! So, I hope to  also start adding some photos and how-to’s as well.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

XOXO

Touched by Shadow Caressed by Light

Several months ago I submitted a short story as part of an anthology call for Nevermore Press – at the time I loved my story, but wasn’t sure if anyone else would. I cannot describe how excited I was when I received an e-mail telling me that my story had been selected as one of the thirteen to be published. However, that excitement was nothing compared to how I felt when I received an e-mail telling me that Touched by Shadow Caressed by Light had been published.

I wrote Sweet Dreams under my pseudo name Leah Patterson. If you enjoy a steamy romance – check it out.

Here are the Amazon links:

I haven’t had the pleasure of reading the other stories yet, but have one clicked and now have it sitting in my Kindle Library! Here is a little blurb about Sweet Dreams:

Shaylee is a shoe designing, dream fairy who finds herself staring in a rather steamy dream with hunky cowboy, Jared Payne. Having broken fae law, Shaylee has a decision to make – remain a fairy or become a human. Which will she chose? And how far will she go to make all of her dreams come true?

If you decide to add this anthology to your collection, please be sure to leave a review!

Happy  Reading!

Summer Lovin’

I wait impatiently for June to roll around each year so that I can read the newest Mary Kay Andrews Novel! I grab it the day of its release and then devour it, which leaves me feeling sad that I read it so fast… ‘Save the Date’ is a fantastic read! IF you are a fan of Southern Belles, Chick-Lit, Romance, and/or Drama, then you have to read this one. And if you have never read any of her books – you must! Her books are the perfect little cocktails of humor, love, friendships, family, and drama, which she balances amazingly.

The first book of hers I read was ‘Little Bitty Lies’ – I found it on a discount table at B&N several years ago and stayed up all night reading. I woke my boyfriend (now husband) and dog up laughing so hard I could barely contain the tears. Now each summer I start off reading her newest addition and then re-read each book. I love reading my favorite books over and over like some watch their favorite movies – it reminds me of when I was younger and would watch the Frankie and Annette beach classics like “Beach Blanket Bingo” as soon as school let out for summer break. I typically like to read them out by the pool while sipping on a fruity concoction; however, since I am now preggers (again) I will have to stick with lemonade!

It’s true – I am a Southern girl through and through, so I love reading about locations that I am familiar with such as Savannah and the Outer Banks, but again I highly recommend you check these out if you like a quick, fun read that leaves you smiling at the end!

Happy Reading!

Check these authors out!

I absolutely LOVE to read! When I decided to try my own hand at writing I met several great up and coming authors through Beta reading. IF you are looking for new series to try out, I recommend you check out the following authors:

Paranormal Romance:

Resurrection Series by Elizabeth Davies

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/1126473.Elizabeth_Davies

These books are wonderful! Ms. Davies has a very descriptive writing style that leaves little to the imagination. Her trilogy focuses on Grace who is suffering from a brain tumor which allows her to travel through time. Her travel is not random, but is drawn to one sexy vampire named Roman. If you are a fan of the paranormal and historical fiction, these are must read books!

Contemporary Romance:

Silent Series by N.E. Henderson

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/7200950.N_E_Henderson?from_search=true

So far there are two books in the Silent Series – Silent No More and Silent Guilt. Both focus on the dramatic love story of Nick and Shannon. This series will take you on a roller coaster of emotions. Nick is a sexy businessman, one of his ventures being a publishing company. Shannon is a survivor who has jumped one life altering hurdle after another and happens to be a photographer working with said publishing company. In the words of the author, “Together they’re EXPLOSIVE, Apart they’re A WRECK” and there have been no truer words. Don’t miss out on these great reads! Ms. Henderson has also introduced supporting characters that will make for wonderful reading material as well – CAN’T WAIT!

Ice Series by Carolina Soto

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/7275105.Carolina_Soto

The Ice Series currently includes two books, Blue Ice and Pink Ice. Both stories revolve around Dylan (aka Blue Eyes) and Katherine. Dylan is a sexy, take charge businessman with one weakness, Katherine. Katherine is a foul-mouth, strong willed woman with promising career goals of her own. Although she does her best to avoid any weaknesses, she cannot avoid Blue Eyes for long… Ms. Soto begins Blue Ice by writing “This is not a love story,” which is sort of true. Dylan and Katherine’s journey is not your typical love story, but it ends as all of us romantics at heart hope with a Happily Ever After. Now for each person that is different – you will have to read the series to find out what that means for them!

Romantic Comedy:

It Ain’t Easy Being Jazzy by Quanie Miller

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/7218800.Quanie_Miller

It Ain’t Easy Being Jazzy by Quanie Miller is an easy, laugh out loud funny read. Jasmine T. Peacock, Jazzy to her friends, is a witty and charming main character. When you add in the supporting cast you have one hilarious story. Although you will be holding your side with laughter, there is still plenty of friendship, romance, and mystery to fill the gaps between. This fun read centers around Jazzy moving past one relationship with an ex who is now engaged to her worst enemy, who just happens to be her cousin, and into a new relationship with a persistent man you can’t help but love. The title says it all… it definitely ain’t easy being Jazzy, but it sure is easy reading about her. If you are a fan of romantic comedies and chick lit, this is a must read to add to your shelf!

If you would like to read my reviews for each book, please check out my author page on goodreads!

HAPPY READING!

On Sale!

Twice As Good is currently on sale for $0.99 on Amazon! If you are looking for a quick read while sitting by the pool or with your toes in the sand, check it out!

Girls raised in the South have certain expectations, especially those born into privilege in one of the South’s oldest and most renowned cities. Ever wonder how they act behind closed doors?

Maxi Reynolds is a proper Southern belle in society… most of the time. But when she is bad, boy is she bad. “Twice As Good” takes the reader through a journey with Maxi; her friends, family, and love interest as she embarks on a new business venture and deals with more than her share of suspenseful drama. It is a Southern Chick-Lit that will hopefully leave the reader wishing he/she were part of their tight group.

Brief Summary:

Maxi Reynolds comes from a life of privilege in one of the South’s most renowned cities; however, she has set out to make her own way in the world. In hopes of moving past her failed marriage, she embarks on a new business venture with her two best friends that will combine her
passions with theirs.

When the women find themselves in need of an architect for renovations of the old Victorian that will soon house their store, they call on Ross Mercer. It should be a relief to have her older brother’s best friend on the job, but for Maxi, it’s not… Will the old feelings she
thought had faded return?

“Twice As Good” is a story of friendship and love with a little mystery mixed in.

*** Not appropriate for readers under 18. Sexual content and profanity.

Twice As Good

I recently published my first book, Twice As Good, and have to admit that pressing the publish button was one of the hardest, but most thrilling things I have done. I felt sick to my stomach and can only compare it to the nervous energy one often feels right before a ride on a roller coaster. Which this entire experience has been!

I have always loved to read, living vicariously through the fictional lives other authors have written about. It is not uncommon for me to think about what I would do or say in similar situations, have a scene with unknown persons play through my mind during a song on the radio, give an interview to Oprah, etc… My imagination has never been the issue, but having the nerve to try to express to others the stories I envisioned was. About a year ago I decided to give it a try and am so happy that I did.

Through this process I have connected with some amazing authors and Betas (who could easily be authors with their brilliant summaries). I have been able to link to a group of authors that are beautiful writers, many of which have been influences to me. I am so thankful for everyone I have “met” so far!

Self-publishing is no joke – I wish I could say that pressing publish was the absolute hardest thing to do in this process, but I can’t. I am finding that marketing, promotion, and everything that comes with it is a full-time job. I have a newfound appreciation for all the authors out there who have chosen this path – it is not easy! This is not said to dissuade anyone from taking this route because I would encourage everyone with the dream to go for it. BUT, I will say be prepared – the writing is actually the easiest part. Or it was for me anyway.

Happy reading and writing!
